A Swiss-based startup is using technology, to connect the public with adventure sports operators, more efficiently than ever before. Kooloco is a digital platform that pools together various sports vendors onto a mobile application and website.
In order to showcase their services, the company recently held their inaugural public presentation at a conference centre in Martigny, situated in Switzerland’s South Western region. Around 90 guests, including business owners, action sports enthusiasts, and members of the media were in attendance.
Background details of why and how the company started were presented. While business trends within the action sports market were also highlighted. The audience also got a first-hand account of the company’s mission, product offering and future plans. Fostering future partnerships with local tour guides were also on the agenda.
The company founders laid out a framework of how they are utilizing modern devices to encourage wider access to action sports. According to co-founder and CEO Romain Magnin “The aim of the company is to rethink the way people experience sports adventures by offering customers an advanced platform to help them uncover niche operators.”
Aligned with Kooloco’s business strategy are growth trends within the travel and tourism markets. A 2016 report by the World Travel and Tourism Council says that the tourism industry accounts for more than 10% of global GDP. While a recent study by the United Nations World Tourism Organization showed that international travel and tourism grew by 7% in 2017 while observing an increase in demand for adventure experiences.
Initially, the company plans on offering a platform for service providers within Switzerland and France, with aspirations of extending their reach to other tour operators across Europe and beyond.
The team has spent the past year eagerly preparing for the company’s début. Customers can expect to start booking adventures with Kooloco as early as January 2019.
